Do you know you could help out the gym by taking a few minutes out of your time? There’s no better way to bring in new students than our current students writing about their experience at SRG. Do you love training with us? How good is it having a lot of instructors in every single class? How easy it is having a busy timetable with classes on from 6:30am until 9pm? If any of these things ring a bell, why not write a positive review about them? Help us out and by keeping that 5 star rating in our profile...
Have you been doing your homework?
If you are a SRG member and keep your emails in check, you know by now that our instructors and pro fighters have been selecting their favourites fights/fighters to help you learn Muay Thai through fights. Today’s selection was made by Pandin and his list couldn’t be more traditional old school Muay Thai. Make sure to watch these fights and pay attention to the fighters style, technique, counters, timing and pace! CIRCUIT CLASS IS BACK
One of our goals at SRG is having classes on from morning until evening and slowly we’ve been adding more and more classes to our timetable. Quite often our students mistakenly show up for a class on Monday and Wednesday at 4:30pm (kids class time) so we have decided to add an extra class, isn’t that great? From the 30th of January our circuit class is back. Yes, it’s not a Muay Thai technical session but a Muay Thai fitness class that has been requested from our students for a while. If you are looking for an opportunity to sweat...
GYM’S LOST AND FOUND
It’s been quite a long time since our last lost and found clean up and going through the things people manage to forget at the gym always surprises us. We wish all our students could be responsible about their training gear but it’s not the case. As per usual there is a few gloves, shin pads, hand wraps and enough training clothes to open an outlet. If you forgot something at the gym, please come past and get it on the lost and found before Friday. On Friday we will remove all the equipment left at the gym and the...
Are you planning to fight in 2023?
Our fighters had a really busy 2022 and seeing new faces stepping up to the challenge of having an amateur fight was great. We are up for a promising year for Muay Thai in NSW with a completely different structure in order to have better promotions and more professional fighters representing our state. This year thanks to Muay Thai Australia NSW, athletes will have a clearer athlete pathway and will be able to say goodbye to the old and awkward (hated by most fighters) headgear sooner than in past years. Please see below how the fighters classes will work in...
New year – new trainer
Happy new year to all our students. 2022 was great and we could see a lot of improvements in our classes, facilities and timetable. We hope you all felt the same way about your beloved gym. We are always looking forward to improve and make SRG better for you and no better way than adding another Thai trainer. Joining our team is Uthaiwut aka Lek. Lek brings with him over 400 fights and over 10 years of experience as a trainer. Lek is a South Thailand, Toyota Marathon and Max Muay Thai Bangkok champion. You can watch two of his...
Homework
We hope you all enjoyed our last email with fight recommendations to help you learn some authentic Muay Thai from the best fighters around the globe. First selection was made by Ching and if you missed out the opportunity to watch some of his favourite fights/fighters, just check our past emails or head to our website and check our news. This week’s selection is brought to you by our head coach Luis. This was a hard task for him since he said he likes way too many fights to select only five. Rest assured we will get more fight recommendations...
The importance of watching Muay Thai fights
If you’ve been attending our group classes for some time, you notice by now how often our head coach Luis Regis mentions the importance of watching Muay Thai fights. The amount of knowledge you can gain by simply watching your favourite fighters and then try to replicate what they do at the gym is just too great. We know how hard it can be to find information about the best current and past Muay Thai fighters since our sport is not on mainstreamed but don’t worry, from now on, we will gather recommendations from our trainers and pro fighters and...
Introduce your friends to Muay Thai
The last 10 days of the month are serious business for most people, we are all working harder to compensate for our time off at the end of year and making time to do the things we love most becomes such a hard task. Going out for a Muay Thai class is almost undoable when you have to split your time between work, family and some time to rest. Thinking about this “December” issue, we were wondering, what if our members could bring a training partner to train with them for a few days? Our last days of the year...
Another belt for James Kostic
We are super proud of our fighters and how often they performed this year. We can easily say that 2022 was by far the busiest year for our SRG Fight team and the results were very good in an overall perspective. This year we had 61 fights with a record of 44W – 14L – 3D. Two weeks ago our student James Kostic fought and won the MASA K1 Australian title and then jumped back in fight camp to finish the year with another tittle fight. This time in Mackay, our young fighter fought for the Siam Cup Youth Australian...
