Another busy weekend for the SRG Fight Team. With 5 of our boxers in 2 states, we had our head coach Luis Regis running from airport to event venue back to airport, cornering everyone in great fashion.
Friday night we had Maggie SRG Hajduk representing us at Showdown 8 at the North Sydney Leagues Club. Maggie fought great, displayed incredible heart and did us very proud. We though she won the fight, and quite clear too, according the Muay Thai rules, but it’s a grey area when fighting on WKBF shows. They got weird rules, 4 rounds bouts and all that… it just doesn’t make much sense.. We assured our fighters that we won’t take part of events sanctioned by WKBF anymore but we have 2 fighters already matched for the next Full Force Show, and that will be the very last show sanctioned by them that we will be involved.
Saturday during the day we had 2 of our youngsters representing us at Siam Cup of Juniors Muay Thai. Adam SRG Singdam and Kobe SRG Sandilands fought really well, gave their all in the ring won their fights. Though fights to be honest, their opponents were in shape and gave a hell of a hard time to our boys. It’s always amazing to see the next generation of Nak Muays with such enthusiasm and passion for our sport.
In the evening we went down to the Sharks Leagues Club in Cronulla, for the Fire in the Shire promotions. There we had Paul SRG Rogers and Edimar SRG Teixeira representing us. Paul, with the biggest heart we have seen in a long time, fought like no other, pushed forward throughout the bout and outscored his opponent in every opportunity. Edimar had his Pro Muay Thai debut and was doing really well until he got caught. He was way stronger and more composed than his opponent, and showed that in every exchange. Unfortunately he got caught in with 3 punches that rocked him hard, he tried to get back up as quickly as he went down and that proved to be not the best idea. He stumbled for a bit and the referee called the fight, even though he didn’t go through the 8-10 sec count, we believe it was for the best interest of Edimar to have the bout stopped. Edimar has fought Dion in the past, when they were both amateurs and will for sure, in the near future, have a trilogy and bring all the Muay Thai fans out of their feet!
Soon we will have Ching, Joh and Stellios fighting and the Muaythai Australia TRI State Championships here at SRG Thai Boxing Gym. The event here in the gym will be on Nov 9th and you are all welcome to come in and watch some great Muay Thai Fights.
Hope you are all having a great week and see you soon at your next training session! SOOT RAAENG GEERT!
