What an amazing weekend we had. Lots of work involved but in the end we got the results we aimed for, and it was all worth it.
This past Saturday we had 2 of our Boxers representing SRG Thai Boxing Gym at Siam2Sydney Muay Thai Promotions, at Marsden High School. An impressive card, stacked with some of the bes Nak Muays from around the country, Siam2Sydney 11 was one of, if not THE best Muay Thai Show we have been this year.
With 2 Muaythai Australia NSW Estate Titles, 2 Siam2Sydney Stadium Titles, 1 WMC NSW State Tittle and 2 WMC Australian Titles on the line, this was an entertaining event!
Our head coach went out on fight 11, for the Main Event of the evening, against the WMC Western Australian Champion in order to defend his WMC Australian Belt. The fight didn’t go the usual way Luis likes to fight. This time, his opponent didn’t give him the chance to warm up in the usual traditional Muay Thai way, in where the fighters have a good feel for themselves on the 1st and sometimes the 2nd round, and to be honest, we have experienced fights when Luis only turned on the heat around the 3rd / 4th round.
Chris “Killa”Watt from Champions Gym came out hungry trowing what he had straight from the start, making Luis work from the very beginning. Without loosing his cool, Luis finished the first round wanting to stay straight for the second, and when that bell rang announcing the start of the second, Chris was up for some trouble and we all knew it.
Luis Soot Raaeng Geert went for it on the second round and…. well, you can check it all out by clicking HERE if you missed the event. The boys from Cornerman were there and have it all ready to be watched on their website.
We would just like to point out, after reading a few comments on Social Media, that the Referee Trevor Lawler did an amazing job in stopping the fight. If the same situation ever happens to us, we wish to have a referee like him on the ring looking after for our fighters. Chris’s eyes were rolling before the start of the second 8 count and there was no reason for Trevor to keep the fight going. Of course Chris was still standing as he is a very tough fighter, but that doesn’t mean he was fit to keep on going.
In the last fight of the day we had our new prospect Huw SRG Davies representing us, and he did us proud. Bringing it all and in a true SRG style, Huw went out on the 3rd round very strong, and gave his all in a very close bout against Neil Massey from PTJ Muay Thai Gym. His good effort paid off and he came out with the win, again in a very close and well balanced match.
We wish all the best to our opponents in recovering from their bouts against us, and to all the fighters that performed over the weekend, that you all can heal quick and get back into action in no time.
A massive thank you to all that came out and supported us, to our sponsors State Road Construction, CPS Plumbing, Mister Chop Shop, @BANGKOK RESTAURANT, Sports Lab, Muay Thai Store, SinThai Remedial Massage, to the SRG Familia, to the Promoter and the Crew that made this another great event and to all that support Muay Thai!
Can’t wait to be see you all again cheering for another SRG Boxer in the near future! Soot Raaeng Geert!
