Not the weekend we hoped to kick of the 2019 Fight Calendar Year. Not even close to what we thought it was going to be, but we are back to the drawing board to find out what went wrong and work towards getting it fixed.
To be 100% honest with you, Michael’s and Ben’s fight could’ve being sent our way but in saying that, they didn’t, and that’s what it matters in the end of day. We started the year with 4 fights and 4 losses and as much as it hurts, we have no other option but to train harder and make sure with doing our very best to get our team ready.
It does feel a little disappointing seen that also over the weekend there were bad calls in many different shows, in different states with different associations. SA, QLD and NSW had fights with controversial decisions over this past weekend, and it hurts our sport more than us, as trainers and fighters, particularly.
We used to think that only certain associations were coming up with bad decisions, maybe based on their different approach or scoring system and their ability in Muay Thai, but after this past weekend, we came to the conclusion that bad decisions are made across all of the them. 3 different states, 3 different sanctioning bodies all making “unfair” or wrong decisions.
With that said, there isn’t a reason for us to stress over it so much, we know it hurts, specially if you spent the last 6-8 weeks sacrificing at work and with your diet to go out there do you best, clearly win the fight and have the referee raising the arm of your opponent. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS, SUCK IT UP AND MAKE SURE NOT TO LEAVE TO THE JUDGES ON YOUR NEXT FIGHT. And cut the crap that there aren’t only amateur fights being misjudged, we saw Main Event Professional fights with title belts on the line being so misjudged that it’s not even worth talking about it.
We hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to train hard this week. This bad results we had starting our fighting year just made us hungrier to get out there and do even better, do something we haven’t being in order to impress the judges. Long live the Muay Thai in Sydney, long live the Muay Thai in Australia!
