This may not feel, but it is officially the longest fighting camp to all the fighters around the globe. If you are a fighter, then you are familiar with the sentence “Don’t ask for a fight, just train and be ready to any opponent”.
Why wouldn’t you be training now, and doing your best if your local gym and training partners are at there, and waiting for you? Staying away of Muay Thai for three months during the lock down was a tough period to all of us, but now it’s time to turn the table and finish the year strong. Despite many people not being happy, we actually received the CSA e-mail today with a little smile on our faces. They stated that they will consider Professional contests applications, as much as they follow the NSW Health Guidelines, which most likely means without audience. In saying that, it is still a major no go for our industry, as none of us is a Dana White as yet and manages to promote events for pay per view only spectators. They also mentioned that they will consider application for Amateur events in 5 weeks time.
Well, you can be disappointed at that, and so would we, seeing all the community sports back, but seriously, seeing what’s happening all over the world, and specially in VIC, we were thinking NOTHING would happen for the Combat Sports world in 2020, but hey, look at that. People are not even training in VIC, the MTA Nationals that were meant to be held in December and in QLD were cancelled already… this may be the turning point we needed to get our sport back on track.
Let’s leave all the negativity and the whinging aside and let’s focus in getting our students back in the gym, getting them healthy, making sure to talk to them, to look them in their eyes and explain to them the importance of a good diet and to have their vitamins levels up. Nothing is more important than being healthy at the present time and there are lots of people that are not taking this serious enough.
So if you are a fighter, do yourself a favour, be fight ready! When the shows return, promoters will most likely have little time to get ready, and if you decide to start your training camp then, you will be left aside.
The weather is getting warmer and it won’t be long until all these restrictions are past us and we manage to resume our normal lives. Stay strong, stay healthy and speak up!
SOOT RAAENG GEERT!
