Sorry it took us a little while to come back to you on the results of another amazing weekend on Muay Thai.
It really was an amazing weekend and we had the most various outcomes from battles in Sydney and in the Gold Coast, both Saturday and Sunday.
Siam2Sydney come in on Saturday afternoon on a authentic Muay Thai show, like the ones we have in Thailand, from 3PM at Marsden High School. All of the fights we greatly matched, and the crowd enjoyed some of the best encounters in Sydney this year.
From SRG Thai Boxing Gym we had our head coach Luis Soot Raaeng Geert starring in the main event of the day (Fight number 9, just like in Thailand, in the middle of the show) against one of the toughest fighters that ever came out of Sydney, World Champion, Rhyse Saliba.
We also had Luke SRG Robertson, Maksud SRG Jamilov and Maria SRG Pisckunov representing us in the event.
Luis won his fight in great fashion, outscored his opponent and won the Siam2Sydney Junior Middle Weight Title Belt and also the so called Battle of Sydney. SRG Thai Boxing is now the holder of the 67kg and the 69.8kg Siam2Sydney Belts.
Luke SRG Robertson is on a roll, 4-0 with outstanding performances and clear wins. We couldn’t be happier for him and for his achievements not only in Muay Thai, but also in his career. Luke will be moving to Brisbane soon to pursue his career and we will be missing him from May. We wish him all the best and as a good Brazilian saying goes “A good son always returns to the house” we know that sometime in the future he will be back.
Maksud SRG Jamilov also had a great fight, he fought against a really tough and well rounded Nak Muay, and to be honest the fight could have gone either way. We believed that Maksud won, as we were fighting Muay Thai and Mak kicked his opponent till the last minute, having both ribs quite red and damaged, his opponent looked more for the clinch and end up with the win on a really good fight. We feel for Maksud as he has been training hard for a little while now, and he seems not to get the results in the end. Well, in Muay Thai we win or we learn, so hope Maksud learnt another great lesson and brings it all in the bout.
Maria SRG Pisckunov did us proud, with that amazing and powerful kick, she fought really well and represented our family with authentic style. Unfortunately she gassed towards the end of the 2nd round and lost by unanimous decision on another great female Muay Thai Fight. We know that she is only starting on her Muay Thai Career and she will very soon be back in action for some more of those strong and powerful kicks.
On Sunday we went up to the Gold Coast, with Oscar SRG Kurtini and Louis SRG Fox both at the age of 7, representing us at the Siam Cup Juniors Muay Thai.
Oscar had one of the most amazing kids performances we have seen in a long time, especially his second round, honestly, this is way beyond what we could ever imagine we would get training kids. They are the future of our sport and we are starting to believe that we are on the right path. Unfortunately, and we don’t know why, this fight was not being judged and they gave it draw in the end. Oscar understood how much better that his opponent he was, and with that we were very happy.
Louis came out to fight a more experienced fighter that only looked for the clinch and did not really wanted to do anything else. Sometimes if gets boring to watch this fights, but some kids believe to be stronger throwing other kids around, and even so we thought that Louis did that more often then his opponent, kicked more as well, he came out short in the decision and the local boy took the win. It becomes a little clear for us that going all the way to participate in kids comps are good for our kids to have an experience that they can’t get in NSW at the present time, but we also feel that we get treated unfairly and the local kids are always taking the wins even when they are not… we will re evaluate the impact on the kids, as they are training hard, travelling inter state, winning fights and coming back home with a draw or a lost. It’s pretty heart broken to see that on the little ones, that sometimes don’t understand how they are being judged.
At SRG Thai Boxing Gym we encourage kids to do their best, and we believe that kids that are judged unfairly or awarded for not winning are not on the tight path to be raised in today’s world. We are doing our best to get them ready for the future. If you won good, if you lost is also good, but do better next time and you might just win. Always with the ultimate respect, we expect all kids to strive in life like we all should. In real life no one will get awarded for not winning.
We have so much happening at SRG at the present, please guys keep up to date with the latest news and we will be publishing 1-2 articles per day in the next few days! See you all at training!
